On Wednesday the 1st of May, Thijs and Darwin from PM gave an engaging lunch lecture about the company and a project they have been working on. First, Thijs explained the organization of PM and that they specialize in the design and manufacturing of high precision linear guides, linear slides, and positioning systems. They do all most everything in-house and have a dedicated R&D team of 15-20 engineers since 2016. Darwin is lead engineer in the R&D department and he guided us through the design process of their newest positioning system which can for example be used as a wafer inspection stage. The project was really interesting as multiple elements from several HTE courses such as compliant mechanisms, mechatronic system design, and predictive modelling came together in one system.
