On the 8th of May Evert gave an interesting lunch lecture about JPE. You might be familiar with JPE through their engineering booklet or website. JPE is a leading expert in the field of precision engineering and mechatronics, where they stand out with their project in cryogenic or vacuum environments. Situated in Maastricht, the company currently counts 25 employees and engages in collaborations with various companies and research institutions.

During the lecture, Evert introduced us to a project where JPE designed configurable slit units for the largest telescope in the world, located in Gran Canaria. Utilizing piezo actuators, JPE achieves precise slit movement in cryogenic conditions with zero energy dissipation at stand still.
