At the beginning of January a group of 20 HTE students visited the facilities of Huisman Equipment in Schiedam. Originally a steel construction company, the focus of the company is now to design and manufacture equipment for the offshore as well as the oil and gas industry.
The visit was very interesting. The most impressive of the tour was a huge tower they used a a verification model for a fully automatic drilling platform. Huisman also showed us a glimpse of a gigantic floating crane, that will be used for wind turbine placement. Large steel machines are way more high-tech that we had expected.
