PME students use different kinds of software on a daily basis, one of the most frequently used programs in both the industry and university is COMSOL Multiphysics. COMSOL Multiphysics is a general-purpose simulation software for modelling designs, devices, and processes in all fields of engineering, manufacturing, and scientific research.
Because of the importance of COMSOL there will be a free training on Wednesday the 13th of November. From 13:00 to 18:00 in Instruction Room J. A COMSOL employee will give an intro course, which will be a combination of a lecture, worked examples as well as workshop problems. To actively participate in this training you need to bring a laptop with COMSOL installed on it. For this you will need a license, which will be supplied to you when you register for the course. Being handy with COMSOL is very useful for a lot of courses a PME student might take, here are a few examples:
- Compliant Mechanisms (ME46115)
- Stability of Thin-Walled Structures (ME46035)
- Micro- and Nano Systems Design and Fabricage (ME46020)
- Multiphysics Modelling using COMSOL (duh) (ME46095)
- and basically any course/thesis where modelling is required
If you want to learn the basics of COMSOL and earn a Neve point, register using the following link: http://www.comsol.nl/activity/Intro_DT2019
